The Library continues to celebrate Black History month. The trivia question for this week is: a pioneering mathematician, this woman's calculations safely rocketed men into space. For almost her entire life, her seminal work in American space travel went unnoticed. Only recently did she receive recognition when she was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Obama. A book and movie chronicled her life. Who was this person?

Stop in the Media Center through Friday to enter. The winner will receive a Five and Below gift card and much more! The winner will be announced Monday!

Right to Read week has come to a close.  Thanks to the PTA for their generous donations and presenting the Book Fair.  And thank you to the students and staff for supporting this fundraiser.  The trivia contest winners are Sam Bilsky and Emma Wolf.  The winner of the guess the pages in the Dictionary is Anshul Sharma.  Poster winners are posted in the Media Center and hallways.  Winners, stop in the Media Center to pick up your prizes.

What does kindness mean to you?  Kindness Club is sponsoring an essay contest.  

Chipotle gift cards will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place in each grade.  Please find details about the contest on posters displayed around the school.  Deadline is 2/21.

There will be a Compass Club meeting TODAY after school in room 235. Please see Mr. Woody for information. 

The Girls Leadership Club meeting has been canceled for today.  Students should take their regular scheduled buses home. 

The PTA Book Fair concludes today.  Stop down with any last-minute purchases by the end of school.  Thank you to all who have supported this event this year.

Congratulations to the Orange 8th grade girls basketball team for their victory over their rival Beachwood. Ashyra, Quriah, Olivia and Mi'kya all scored in the win. Tamia was our defensive specialist.  Great win ladies!

Be sure to visit the Book Fair during your LA classes this week. Remember to bring money in an envelope with your name on it or have your parents put money in the eWallet. You can also stop in before school, during your Pride or lunch time.

Today’s question is:  This person was an author, poet, and civil rights activist who was chosen to present her poems at the inaugural addresses of Presidents’ Clinton and Obama.  Who am I!
